Skip Hire for Swansea |
What is skip hire?
Hiring a skip can be an affordable and convenient solution for your waste removal needs as they come in numerous sizes and configurations. Although there are also numerous restrictions and limitations associated with skip hire and some jobs would be better suited to an alternative waste disposal service.
As previously mentioned, skips come in a range of different sizes and shapes to suit any job. The size you will need will depend on the amount of waste you intend to be getting rid of.
Smaller jobs would need a small skip hire Swansea which are 2-yard skips or a midi skip hire would usually be suitable too as they are 4-yard skips so they can hold that extra waste. These skips are most used by customers who are taking on smaller home improvement projects such as a garden clearout or room clearance. These are the cheapest to hire because they are the smallest with prices starting from £60.
Builders skips are much larger as the sizes range from 6 to 14-yard capacity. These are hired by homeowners with bigger house projects or by commercial customers with larger rubbish disposal needs.
Roll-on roll-off skips are for industrial-sized jobs as these are extremely large and come in sizes from 20 to 30-yard capacity.
Lockable skips are great if the skip is placed in a publically accessible area. This is because it is not unusual for unwanted waste to be thrown in hired skips by the public and sometimes these can fill up overnight. A lockable skip keeps your waste secure and prevents unwanted additions. Due to the mechanics of a lockable skip, they are costlier than a standard skip and they too come in a range of different sizes.
What can and can’t be thrown into a skip vary slightly from different companies but as a general standard these are some items that ARE allowed to be thrown in skips: Domestic waste, organic waste, wood, plastic, metal, furniture, cardboard, soil and rubble. Some items that ARE NOT allowed to be thrown in skips: Gas cylinders, hazardous waste, tyres, fluorescent tubes, chemicals, solvents, paints, medical waste, plasterboard and electrical items.
There are some limitations when it comes to hiring a skip which we will quickly cover. The main one being the location of where the skip needs to be delivered to. Skip trucks are rather large and so this sometimes does leave many places in the UK unable to be reached because of small streets, low ceiling tunnels and bridges that can’t take the weight of a delivery truck. This can cause problems as most people would prefer the skip to be just outside their house or on their driveway or front garden. Other limitations can be what you are planning on disposing of but as long as you follow our guidelines then this should not be an issue.
We have covered what skip hire is, how it can benefit you, what you can and can’t dispose of and some of the limitations that you could be faced with but feel free to contact us for any more information or if you need skips Swansea but think you may have a problem in getting it delivered then at the very least we will come out and assess the situation for ourselves so we can hopefully help.
